May Favorites

Back from a work trip and glad that it’s cool and sunny here in the PNW. Wanted to share my recent favorites:

La Croix. Because fizzy.
Matcha Soy Lattes with Pacific Foods Ultra Soy. This really foams up in the milk frother.

Chicken karaage with pickles. Crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside.
Scrambled eggs with truffle salt. I know it sounds uppity but a little truffle salt goes a long way. Especially in pop corn.

The Kitchen Sisters – I really enjoy their stories into hidden kitchens. Food around the world, what more can this girl ask for?
At Home With… – these best friends are my favorite to listen to.

The Good Wife – Julianna Margulies is just a really great actress.
Leap Year – Matthew Goode is surprisingly dreamy with facial hair.

What are some of your favorites now?

Puttanesca sauce

All it took was one photography workshop to inspire me to learn more about my camera and to play around more with my Rebel. I got this camera more than 2 years ago but I still know so little about it. Thanks to the food photography workshop that was presented by Aran of Cannelle et Vanille fame. I have to spend more time with my camera, get acquainted with it and learn as much as I can about it.

Other things that have caught my eye lately:

This super cute Orla Kiely bag from the 2010 spring/summer collection.

The Giving Tree is one of my favorite stories. That is probably why I swooned when I saw this iPad decal.

I know that I am not alone when I say that I drool over Anthropologie’s pretties. I wish I had this beautiful platter. The texture is just lovely. And how adorable are these cute elephant shakers?

An inspiring blog that Aran shared with us during the workshop – What Katie Ate. I love how she photographed these cheeses, especially. Somehow the greys and blues in the veins of the cheeses are emphasized by the gray and shadowy backdrop. So many other beautiful pictures are shared in her blog, do check it out.

Elusive Star

That elusive star in the sky that we call the sun is finally showing its face here. It looks like it’s going to be a gorgeous day. It is also somewhat significant but more on that later. Temperatures are rising as I type – can’t wait to spend some time outside today. Enjoy the weekend, everyone and if you’re a football fan, have fun watching the games!

Today’s bits:

In the last year, I have been interested in cord/leather bracelets. This one with gold plated beads woven in between caught my eye the other day. I like the name too – nugget.

I like the wood prints at Petit Collage, especially the owl ones. Their new city prints are really tempting. It’s San Francisco too, you all know that city has my heart.

How about these cute robot pillow cases?

This morning, I think I’m making Nigella’s Doughnut French Toast since I have fresh strawberries I can use to make a nice sauce. Either that or a little pink strawberry smoothie to go with plain doughnut french toast.

Lomo surprise

vintage cans

I found my Lomo LC-A camera recently and dusted it off. From the pictures, I realize that I have not used my camera since 2003! That is way too long. I’ve now popped in new film and will be snapping some lovelies (fingers-crossed).

Here is one of my favorites from that roll. I took it when we were at the Lakewood Antiques Fair in GA. They don’t make labels like they used to.

Mad About You

mad about you

I’ve been watching old Mad About You episodes lately. I remember that I loved the episodes and watched it while in college, single but seeing someone seriously. The show was an interesting reference point about a newly married experience. I always thought it was sweet how they were neurotic about so many things but yet seem to adore each other.

So… now you know what I’ve been up to while I’ve been remiss in posting here.

Orla and Audrey Saturday

I went by the local Target to see if they brought in more Orla Kiely items. There were a few items but the full release should be later this month. I’m going to keep an eye out for them.

I came home with a tote (05) and the small milk crate (02).

I also bought some of my favorite Audrey Hepburn DVDs – I think there will be an Audrey Hepburn film fest next weekend.

Seen on a walk

Seward Park - Telephoto

We went on a walk last Monday when I took some time off from work and found these two ducks hanging out on a log by the lake. Usually we don’t have our camera on hand but we were trying out a new lens that we had rented. I am not sure if Mike or I took this picture but I wanted to share it with you.

Day 69

New leaves on branches

I have 2 more sleeps to go before I get to see Mike again. I can’t wait. He will be home for just over a week and then he goes away again for another 5 weeks. I hope those 5 weeks go by quickly.

Today, I started yoga again after a long while. It was good to stretch (creak, really!) and get reacquainted with my body. It is funny how one can go through life and not be conscious of how one’s body helps to get you through each day.

Day 51

Moss on stone lantern

I had a great day today and it all started when I went shooting with S & S at Kubota Gardens. My first real session with my new toy. I am loving it. There is so much to try and learn, but one photo at a time is how I will tackle it. Here are my pictures from today.

My folks arrive tomorrow morning so I have to get some sleep for now.

Winter sunshine

We got some much needed sunshine today in Seattle. It was a lovely break from the dreary winter rain clouds, so I thought I’d capture it.
