“It isn’t what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about.” – Dale Carnegie

Of late, I’ve been growing aware of the negativity that flows through my mind unknowingly. Dale Carnegie’s quote reassures me that with positive thoughts, I can rise above feeling less about me.

I know, it seems too easy but who says that finding happiness should be difficult. It surprises me how much unhappiness is easily forged when we let our minds go off on their own rampage.

Affirm yourself today – you are worth it.

Aeron Chair by H Miller

The company I used to work for, provided these ergonomic chairs. I miss them. I now work in a different company and in a more exciting city but I have a more inferior office seating option.

This morning, Mike had to come into my office to work out my desk ergonomics. You see, lately, I’ve been going home with a painful shoulder that sometimes results in a tension headache. I think this will work better for me. If you work at a desk a lot, like I do, please take a few moments to make sure your ergonomics are good for you.

Thank you, hun.

Hair

captaincaveman.jpgYesterday, my very own Captain Caveman got his haircut and trimmed his goatie.

I haven’t got a picture of him, post hair-removal. But his before-picture definitely reminds me of Capt Caveman himself.

Really lost?

When I stumbled upon this news article, I thought about all the times in my Geography classes when I would worry about all that was going to be lost forever in this world?

Do you know how many different species of plants and animals face extinction every single day? That a possible miraculous cure might exist in that rainforest and we would never find it because of this extinction? And some of these species are not even catalogued?

Evolution. We know where we’ve been, how far we’ve come but can we really predict what’s to come? Do you think that one day humans would become sophisticated enough to predict our furture? We can monitor the earth’s tremors and a volcano’s gas leak but can we tell how it will all pan out in the end? I’ve often wondered, if human beings existed during the time of dinosaurs, with their capability in technology, do you think we could have predicted those meteors? [I know, why would we have technology and dinosaurs at the same time – it’s just a scene from a B grade sci-fi film.] I don’t know, Tuesdays get a little crazy for me.

Greek Blockbuster?

We went to watch Troy last night with some work friends and their other halves. It was a long movie and somehow it did seem a little “cut short” since the whole Trojan war lasted at least 10 years in real time and a mere couple of weeks on film.

Firstly, I am not a big Brad Pitt fan [sorry ladies]. He definitely has a good physique (much like Greek men) and needs no body double to do his own a$$ work but he’s just too modern for a Greek persona. He really does need to work on an accent too. Still, I am sure most 50% of the audience were just ogling him. Understandably. In my honest opinion, Eric Bana was a much more realistic portrayal of Hector (Prince of Troy).

All in all, it was entertaining but true historians might be disappointed.

Communication Board

If you are a regular, you might have noticed that I have removed my tagboard. It seems to be giving pop-ups and getting errors more than often. I also think that anyone who wants to contact me, can send me an email. Or leave a comment.

Until these tagboard/zonkboard people stop trying to use their “free” tool as a vehicle to share spam, I think I won’t give them the liberty to do so.

I guess one can’t complain when there is really no obvious costs involved.

Colors of me

I got this from Lady Crumpet’s and I thought it would be fun to try out for myself.

The color for the month of August is Marigold. Grand and royal, Marigold is the color of power and greatness. Gold signifies both spiritual and material wealth. The Sun moves through the majestic sign of Leo during the month of August. The sign of Leo rules royalty. Gold dispels darkness and is especially helpful when you feel the need to protect yourself. Wearing, meditating or surrounding yourself with Marigold can help ward off negative energy while helping to align you with riches, monetary support and your position in life.

You have a knack for shining a light for others. You illuminate the way through your own accomplishments or through the insights and ideas that you can share with those around you. Finding a balance between action and receptivity, and independence and partnerships is a common theme for this particular birthday. Your personal color blends the gentle with the agressive side of your nature. Wearing, meditating or surrounding yourself with Gold Earth enhances your intuition and highlights your mission in life.

Weather with me

weather.gif

I know that it might seem lame to talk about the weather but just look at the crazy weather we’re having. Just last evening we had some hail and heavy rainstorm. This evening, it’s cold and wet too. But I hear we can look forward to some wonderful sunshine later this week.

Hope the weather is better where you are.

Dreams

Last night, I had a dream about someone close to me dying and I didn’t get a chance to see that person ever again. I was sad. I felt like a deep sense of loss and that sensation drove a nail to my heart, as if someone had punched me in my gut and left me cringing from the pain.

I know that it was only a dream. But that dream caused me to realize the immense amount of pain I would have to deal with, if that person really did die.

Ouch.

Weather Talk

Look at the weather that we’re in for this week. It’s not so much the rain, it’s more the hike in temperatures. It looks like we’re heading straight into summer!
